There is no caste-based (OBC/SC/ST) age relaxation in AFCAT; only the CPL relaxation applies to the Flying Branch. Exact birth-date windows will be specified in the official 2027 notification.

Educational Qualification

Flying Branch: A minimum three-year graduate degree (any discipline) with at least 60%, and Maths & Physics at 10+2 with at least 50% each. BE/B.Tech graduates with 60% also qualify.

Ground Duty (Technical): A four-year engineering/technology degree (60%) in notified streams — Aeronautical (Electronics) or (Mechanical) require specific branches listed in the notification.

Ground Duty (Non-Technical): A graduate degree (60%) for Administration/Logistics; specified graduation/post-graduation for Accounts, Education and Weapon Systems branches.

Physical & Medical Standards

Minimum height is 162.5 cm for the Flying Branch and 157.5 cm (men) / 152 cm (women) for Ground Duty, with leg-length, sitting-height and weight standards for Flying. Vision: Flying needs 6/6 in each eye (uncorrected), correctable to 6/6, with CP-I colour perception; Ground Duty accepts 6/6 & 6/9 with CP-III (Non-Tech) standards. Candidates should not be overweight and must be free of disqualifying conditions.

Marital Status & Nationality

Candidates below 25 years must be unmarried at course commencement; marriage during training is not permitted. Only Indian citizens (per the Citizenship Act, 1955) are eligible.
