The 4-Stage AFCAT Selection Process — How NCA Prepares You
The Services Selection Board Interview is a 5-day evaluation across boards in Allahabad, Bhopal, Bangalore, Kapurthala (Army), Coimbatore (Navy), Dehradun, Mysore, Varanasi (IAF) and others. NCA replicates the entire format on-campus.
- Day 1 — Screening: OIR (verbal + non-verbal reasoning) and PPDT. Roughly 50% are screened out here. NCA runs daily OIR drills and supervised PPDT story practice.
- Day 2 — Psychology: TAT (12 pictures + 1 blank), WAT (60 words/15 min), SRT (60 situations/30 min), SDT. Capt. Dhaliwal personally evaluates every NCA student.
- Days 3-4 — GTO Tasks: GD, GPE, PGT, HGT, IO, Command Task, Snake Race, FGT, Lecturette. NCA has its own GTO ground; Col. Ravi Sharma (Retd.), former Army GTO, supervises personally.
