How MNS selection actually works
MNS is not a single exam. It is a funnel, and each stage removes candidates:
- NEET UG — you must qualify. Your NEET score decides whether you are shortlisted at all.
- Computer-Based Test — General Intelligence and General English.
- Psychological assessment — officer-like qualities, the same family of tests used across Services selection.
- Interview — before a board.
- Medical board — AFMS standards; a large number of candidates are lost here.
- Final merit list — seats allotted across the AFMS nursing colleges.

MNS coaching in India is typically priced between ₹25,000 and ₹40,000. But the fee alone is misleading, because most MNS programmes are priced for the written exam only. MNS selection has three more stages after the written test — psychological assessment, interview and medical board — and that is where most candidates are actually lost.

|---|---|---|---|
| Typical MNS coaching (market) | 6 months | ₹27,500 | Classroom lectures, printed notes, doubt clearing and mock tests — written-exam preparation |
| Typical MNS coaching (market) | 1 year | ₹40,000 | Classroom lectures, printed notes, doubt clearing and mock tests — written-exam preparation |
| Short intensive batch (market) | 20–30 days | ₹25,000 | Crash written-exam preparation |
| NCA Academy, Chandigarh | 3 months | ₹25,000 | NEET-level Physics, Chemistry, Biology & English • MNS CBT prep (General Intelligence & General English) • mock tests • psychological assessment practice with ex-SSB board assessors • one-to-one mock interview • AFMS medical-standards guidance |
| NCA Academy, Chandigarh | 6 months | ₹40,000 | Everything in the 3-month plan, with extended NEET-level PCB coverage and additional psychological assessment and one-to-one interview practice |

MNS training — Basic Military Nursing Course
Selected MNS candidates undergo the Basic Military Nursing Course (BMNC) at the Army College of Nursing, Pune or Jalandhar. It covers military nursing protocols, field nursing, military etiquette, physical training and professional nursing advancement. On successful completion you are commissioned as a Lieutenant in the Military Nursing Service.

Postings and career progression in MNS
MNS officers are posted across India and occasionally on UN peacekeeping missions abroad — Command Hospitals (Kolkata, Pune, Lucknow, Chandigarh, Bengaluru), Military Hospitals, the Research and Referral Hospital in Delhi, and border and field area hospitals. Career progression runs up to Major General (Matron-in-Chief of the Army Nursing Corps), one of the few routes by which an Indian nurse can reach general officer rank.

No. The Military Nursing Service entry for the B.Sc Nursing course is open to female candidates only.
How many MNS seats are there?

Do I get paid during the B.Sc Nursing course?
Cadets receive a stipend during training, and on successful completion are commissioned into the Military Nursing Service. Exact current rates are stated in the notification.
