What is UPSC CDS?
The Combined Defence Services Examination is known as the CDS exam. In India, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) administers this national test. The exam’s goal is to select officers for the Indian Armed Forces, specifically the Ezhimala Air Force Academy (AFA) in Hyderabad, the Indian Naval Academy (INA) in Dehradun, and the Indian Military Academy (IMA) in Chennai (for both men and women).
Important Information:
Eligibility: Candidates must meet certain age and physical fitness standards, as well as be graduates or in their last year of graduation. Additionally, eligibility differs slightly based on the academy to which an application is submitted.
The exam is administered twice a year, often in September and February.
Selection Procedure: Written Test (questions of an objective nature)
The five-day Services Selection Board (SSB) interview tests leadership, charisma, and intelligence.
Topics Covered in the Written Exam:
English, General Knowledge, and Elementary Mathematics for IMA, INA, and AFA
English and general knowledge (no math) are required for OTA.

When All Is The CDS Exam Conducted ?
The UPSC administers the CDS exam twice a year:
1. CDS 1 Notification Release: During the preceding year’s October to November
Exam Date: Typically February 2. CDS 2 Notification Date: May–June
Exam Date: Typically, September.
Selected candidates go to the SSC interview, which is conducted in stages over the course of the following few months, following the written exam.
