Before you dive into preparation, make sure you meet the fundamental eligibility requirements.

 

Age Limit & Marital Status

The age limit is the most critical factor. For the NDA 1 2026 exam, the course will commence in early 2027. Based on the standard age calculation of 16.5 to 19.5 years, the expected age bracket is as follows:

  • Date of Birth: You must be born between July 2, 2007, and July 1, 2010.

  • Marital Status: Only unmarried male and female candidates are eligible.

(Note: This date of birth range is based on the standard formula used by UPSC every year. The final confirmation will be in the official notification on Dec 10, 2025.)

Educational Qualification

  • For Army Wing: You must have passed the 12th Class (10+2 pattern) from a recognized board.

  • For Air Force and Naval Wings: You must have passed the 12th Class with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) from a recognized board.

  • Appearing Candidates: Students in their final year of Class 12 are also eligible to apply.

NDA Exam Pattern: The Blueprint of the Test

Important Note on Negative Marking: Be careful! For every incorrect answer, marks will be deducted.

  • Mathematics: 0.83 marks deducted.

  • GAT: 1.33 marks deducted.

This paper tests your knowledge of Class 11th and 12th level math. Key areas include:

  • Part A – English (200 Marks): This section checks your understanding and command of the English language. It covers grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, and error spotting.

  • Part B – General Knowledge (400 Marks): This broad section covers a wide range of subjects, with a major focus on science.

    • Physics: Topics like motion, optics, electricity, and magnetism.

    • Chemistry: Physical and chemical changes, acids, bases, salts, and elements.

    • General Science: Focus on basic Biology, including topics on living cells, human body, and diseases.

    • Social Studies: Indian History, Freedom Movement, basics of the Indian Constitution, and Geography.

    • Current Events: Knowledge of important national and international events from the past 6-8 months.
