Combined Defence Service (CDS) Syllabus for Exam:

The combined defence services is the bundle of opportunities for all the youth who want to explore career in armed services and want to progress in the desired field of Army, Navy or Air Force. The candidate needs to go through the complete scenario of selection procedure which includes written test and interview as it is conducted twice in a year. This whole procedure took place and after selection of a candidate they are sent to the academies of their choice as filled in form and also depending upon the merit list. There are following institutes that are included in orientation training program and they are mentioned below:

  • Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun
  • Naval Academy (NA), Goa
  • Air Force Academy (AFA), Hyderabad
  • Officer’s Training Academy (OTA), Chennai

There is also one term and condition for the candidate who joins first- three institutes will get the permanent commission and those who gets fourth institute gets short service commission. The syllabus that is required for getting through the exam of CDS is:

Written Examination for Indian Military Academy, Naval Academy and Air Force Academy:

In English subject syllabus is included regarding the basic understanding of English and vocabulary that is used in daily life.

  1. Elementary Mathematics:
  • Arithmetic:

Number system, natural numbers, integers, rational and real numbers, fundamental                operations- addition and subtraction, multiplication, division, square root and decimal fractions.

  • Unitary Method:

Time and distance, time and work, percentages, applications to simple and compound interest, profit and Loss, ratio and proportion and variation.

  • Elementary Number System
  • Algebra
  • Trigonometry
  • Geometry
  • Mensuration
  • Statistics
  1. General Knowledge:

General Knowledge is conducted with the reference of:

  • Current Affairs
  • History
  • Geography
  • Scientific Subjects
  • Dates and events of history, discoveries and inventions
